Student competition: The future needs truth. Finding Facts – Solving Problems – Shaping the Future
Making decisions, overcoming problems – this is what we are confronted with every day, each and every individual as well as society as a whole. But only those who are well informed, know the facts and can distinguish truth from lies will find suitable solutions. It is important to sharpen the sense of facts as the basis for science, social debate and ultimately democracy.
For this reason, the Handelsblatt Media Group, one of the leading media companies in Germany, and the materials manufacturer Covestro are calling for a research competition at German schools.
Students in grades 10-13 are invited to work on one of the following three topics - alone, in a course or as a class: Energy transition, mobility of the future, circular economy.
The independent jury with representatives from education, science, business and the media will vote on the winners in February. Peter Brors, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Handelsblatt and Head of the Holtzbrinck School of Journalism, Dr. Markus Steilemann, CEO of Covestro, Christine Hauck, Managing Director of Cornelsen Verlag, and Prof. Dr. Manfred Fischedick, President and Scientific Director of the Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment and Energy, will be present.
The winners will be honored at the school visit of the CEO of Covestro and a representative of the School of Journalism in 2025. There will also be an excursion with Covestro to Berlin to visit opinion leaders from politics and the media.
